Julie DePasse is excited to be a part of BFA’s first grade team! She began her career in 1989 after graduating from Metropolitan State College of Denver. She taught at the first grade level in Littleton Public Schools for three years before deciding to be a full time mom for a while. When she went back to work, she taught at Monument Academy Charter School and her kids attended there as well. This was her introduction to the Core Knowledge Sequence, and she was hooked!  Now back in the Denver area, she is excited to be teaching in a Core Knowledge school again where the curriculum is packed full of interesting subjects to study including lots of history and science!

Julie grew up in Littleton, where she discovered her love of reading and learning. She believes that reading helps people see the world from a whole different window! Today, she is still a member of a book club, where she relishes the lively discussions! She hopes to share her love of reading and learning with her students. In addition to books, she loves watching movies and traveling with her husband and two sons. Her favorite trips have been to Europe, especially Scotland and Ireland. She enjoys church activities and her big, silly dog, Buster, who takes her for walks on the Highline Canal Trail… whenever he gets the chance.

Julie looks forward to collaborating with you in hopes that this school year at BFA will be electrifying! GO LIGHTNING BOLTS!

Brittany Parsons is excited to rejoin the Ben Franklin Academy team, though many of you may recognize her better as Brittany Klee who previously taught Kindergarten here. Last summer Brittany married the man of her dreams and moved down to Colorado Springs. She is eager to start her fifth year teaching at her favorite elementary school.

Her passion for teaching flourished from watching her mother teach and quickly developed into her own love for teaching. She enjoys incorporating her joy of reading into her own classroom in hopes of inspiring the same love in her students. Soaking up the glorious sunshine, hiking and camping in the beauty of Colorado, and adventuring with her husband are a few of her favorite things. She feels blessed to be teaching first grade at BFA and is enthusiastic to experience another wonderful school year there!
