5th Grade Teachers
Linda Wilson
Linda has been teaching fifth grade for the past twelve years. For the last six of those twelve years, Linda was privileged to teach at a Core Knowledge Charter School. Linda was a science liaison between the Colorado Department of Education and the elementary teachers at her former school. Linda says it was an easy decision to jump on board at BFA, especially given BFA’s vision for science; specifically, integrating STEM into the curriculum.
Linda has been married to her husband, Chuck, for 27 years. They have three boys. Their eldest is 24 and will be going to Barcelona, Spain in the fall for a semester abroad. He will graduate in the spring with a journalism degree and minor in photojournalism. Their second born is 21 and attends Menlo College in California, where he plays baseball for the school while earning his finance degree. Their 6’ 5” “bonus baby” will be a junior at Heritage High School. Linda and her husband enjoy playing golf together.
Linda looks so forward to being part of the vision that was established by the Founding Fathers. A vision that equates with her philosophical beliefs of the stellar practices of providing a school where all children can be successful.
Katie Murphy
Katie completed her eleventh year of teaching last year. She has worked with students in grades three through five for the majority of her career and has taught fifth grade for ten years. Teaching is a passion of Katie’s, and she loves every minute she gets to spend in the classroom.
Katie has a bachelor’s degree in Painting from the University of Missouri Kansas City, a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Denver, and a second Master of Science in Special Education.
Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Katie moved to Colorado in 1999. She lives with her husband and their three children in Highlands Ranch. Katie spends her free time keeping up with her very active children, but she also loves to spend time knee deep in a great book. Katie and her husband also enjoy gardening (she works on the flowers, and he grows the giant pumpkins). As a family, they enjoy being outdoors, family game night, trips to the mountains and visiting her family in Wisconsin.
Kevin Knudsen
Kevin is excited to begin his second year of teaching. He joined BFA as a second career teacher, having spent the past several years in business. He looks forward to providing the education, leadership, and guidance to assist with each student’s present and future success.
Kevin graduated from Colorado State University and recently earned his master’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Phoenix.
Another Colorado native, Kevin lives in Parker with his wonderful wife and daughters, ages 3 and 2 years old. Kevin looks forward to another great year at BFA and meeting the rest of the BFA community.
Paula Harrison
Paula has been teaching at Core Knowledge Charter Schools for the past 14 years. She has spent her time being a Reading Specialist, teaching technology, and teaching third through fifth grades with the majority of those years with fabulous fifth graders.
Paula is from Illinois and a graduate of Southern Illinois University. She moved to Colorado 14 years ago and would not want to live anywhere else. When not teaching, she spends her time with her two children, Nicolas, a Heritage High School graduate, and Jenna, a Senior at Heritage. She also loves to read, hike, travel (when given the opportunity), and do anything that keeps her busy.
