Tina Dorsch - Kindie AM
Tina loves working as an Instructional Aide with the fantastic Ben Franklin Academy kindergarten team! She has been at BFA since the beginning and feels blessed to be here. Prior to working at BFA, Tina worked and volunteered at Platte River Academy, where her children attended school. Tina worked with Susan Klee at Platte River as her Teacher’s Aide for three years and as a Hot Lunch Supervisor for four years.
Tina moved to Colorado in 1995 from Southern California where she was born and raised. She loves Colorado and it has proven to be an amazing place to raise her family. After 19 1/2 years of living in Highlands Ranch, Castle Rock became her new home this past summer. She and her husband Mike keep busy with their three kids - ages 24, 20, and 11. Her favorite pastimes are reading, walking, boating, serving at her church, and spending time with her family and friends. Tina is looking forward to having another great year at BFA!
Nannette Preciado - Kindie AM
Nannette is excited to be an Instructional Aide at Ben Franklin Academy. She has worked at Bear Canyon Elementary as a Instructional Aide and Health Room Assistant and at Ranch View Middle School with Nutrition Services. Nannette moved to Highlands Ranch in 1995 from California. Nannette and her husband have two children, Rob and Lauren. Rob attends University of Northern Colorado, and Lauren attends Colorado State University. Nannette enjoys camping, hiking, and spending time with her family.
Nannette is very excited to be part of BFA and loves working with the kindergarten students.
Tamar Amiscary - Kindie PM/Floater
Tamar is excited to be joining the Ben Franklin Academy staff as a full time Instructional Aide for kindergarten. She has lived in Colorado since the age of 5. She graduated from CU Boulder with B.S. in Applied Mathematics. She loves working with children and has previous experience working with them at the elementary, middle school, and high school level. Tamar has been married for 13 years and has two children in the 5th and 8th grades who attend Ben Franklin Academy. She loves to bake, reading books and spending quality time with her family.
Kathy Chase - Kindie PM
Kathy is very excited to join the Ben Franklin Academy staff as a kindergarten aide. She is from Colorado and recently moved to Highlands Ranch where most of her extended family live. She has been married to her husband, Matt, for 24 years. They have been blessed with three wonderful sons: Tyler (22), Zach (19) and Spencer (12). Spencer is in sixth grade at BFA. In her free time, Kathy loves to travel, read, and watch the cooking channel. She even attempts to make a few of the recipes.
Kathy loves children and is thrilled to be a part of the kindergarten team.
Jillane Disbrow - Kindie PM
Jillane is very excited to begin her third year at Ben Franklin Academy as the afternoon Instructional Aide for kindergarten. Originally from Wyoming, she attended the University of Wyoming where she received a B.S. in Psychology with an emphasis in Child Psychology. She has been married to her husband, Adam, for 21 years and they have two daughters, Jensen, who is a freshman at Arapahoe High School, and Marin, who is a sixth grader at BFA. She and her family have lived in Highlands Ranch for the past ten years and they absolutely love it here. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, hanging out with friends, reading, traveling, and sitting out on her patio and watching the sun set over the beautiful mountains.
Jillane looks forward to working with the kindergarten teaching team again and helping sweet kindies learn and grow during the 2016-2017 school year.
Danielle Farmer - Kindie PM
Danielle is excited to join the Ben Franklin Academy team as a kindergarten aide. She enjoys helping with kids and seeing the light bulb come on when learning sparks! She and her husband, Nate, are blessed with four children. Payton -13, Reese -10, Jacob-8, and Bailey-5. Her family has been a part of BFA since the beginning and all her children currently attend BFA. Danielle is active in their church, volunteering in children’s church well as a recreation leader. In her free time, she enjoys reading, crafting , watching movies and hanging out with her family and friends.
Hannah Wagner - 1st Grade PM
Hannah graduated in 2013 from Abilene Christian University, in Abilene, Texas, with a degree in English Literature, emphasis on film. She has been working with children in a professional capacity for almost 10 years now: most recently, she spent a year in Australia as an Au Pair for a family there. Hannah is excited to get to know a whole new group of kids, and spend the school year learning and growing with them, here at Ben Franklin Academy.
Holly Melka - 2nd Grade AM
Holly is an Instructional Assistant for the 2nd grade team. She is a Colorado native. She has taught Pre- kindergarten and Kindergarten in Jefferson County schools prior to staying home and raising her three children. She graduated from Metro State College with a BA in Sociology and minored in Psychology. Holly has been married for 18 years and has three teenage children. Her oldest son is 16 and she has twins(boy and a girl) who are 13 years old and all attend schools in Douglas County. She enjoys spending time with her family, baking, reading and taking walks with her Golden Retriever, Baylee.
Kristi Watson - 2nd Grade PM
Kristi is very happy to be joining the Ben Franklin Academy staff as a 2nd grade aid. She is from Iowa and moved here when she was 12 years old. She and her family have lived in Highlands Ranch for 12 years. They are the owners of two adopted cats and two adopted dogs. In her free time, Kristi enjoys gardening, jogging, crafting, reading, movies and hanging out with her daughter.
Dana Tromeur-Nach - 3rd Grade AM
Dana is an Instructional Assistant for the third grade team. Before coming to Ben Franklin Academy, she worked at Coyote Creek Elementary as an Educational Assistant. Dana moved to Highlands Ranch in 2009 from New Jersey, and she absolutely LOVES it here!! She loves the sunshine, mountains, and the people. Dana and her husband have three children, three cats, and a dog.

Sara Wilkerson - 3rd Grade PM
Cathy Olsen - 4th Grade AM
Cathy is starting her third year at Ben Franklin Academy as a fourth grade Instructional Aide. She is a licensed teacher with ten years of experience, primarily in grades 5 and 6, and holds a Colorado Reading Teacher (K-12) endorsement. Cathy attended Brigham Young University, where she secured her B.S. degree in Fashion Merchandising and her Teacher Certification in Elementary Education. Cathy also furthered her literacy studies at the University of Virginia and later transferred to the University of Colorado, Denver, where she completed her master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Reading and Writing. Prior to her employment with BFA, Cathy worked as a private tutor and volunteered as a Response to Intervention reading tutor at an elementary school in the Jefferson County School District.
Cathy, who is a California native, has lived in Colorado for 15 years. She loves spending time with her husband of 29 years and her daughter, who also is a BYU graduate. In addition, she enjoys traveling, visiting museums, watching movies, reading biographies and historical fiction, writing, and walking.
Cathy looks forward to another successful year of working with the dedicated staff and supportive families of BFA.
Jennifer Campbell - 4th Grade PM
Jennifer is thrilled and blessed to be joining the 4th grade team and being closer to her twin daughters in second grade. She began her restaurant career over twenty years ago with opening Spago Las Vegas, then moved to West Hollywood to become a manager with the Palm Restaurant, moved on to Geoffrey's in Malibu and Windows Steakhouse downtown. After her twin girls arrived, and over ten years living in Southern California, decided to move she and her girls here to Colorado to be closer to family. She enjoys wine and great food, (is extremely lucky to be engaged to a wonderful Chef) and spending time with family and friends in her off time.
Janet Harlow - 5th Grade AM/7th Grade PM
Janet is an Instructional Aide for Ben Franklin Academy’s fifth and seventh grade teams. This is Janet’s fifth year as an aide for the upper grades, and she loves working with the young adults of the age group. During the summers, Janet is also the Co-Director of the successful BFA Summer Camp program and, during the school year, is an active teacher for the BASE program. As an aide, Janet enjoys the constant connection with a large number of students, and you can find her with several students around her as the students communicate their days. She has many names given to her by her students and has learned the many handshakes she and her students have created.
Janet is a single mom of two. Her daughter works full-time and is out of the house, and her son is currently at recruit training for the United States Marine Corps. As an empty-nester, Janet enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Janet has lived in Colorado since 2006, after many years in Texas. A Wyoming native, she follows both the University of Texas and University of Wyoming athletics. She enjoys drawing, painting, and reading. Check out the many bulletin boards at BFA, as one of Janet’s favorite activities is creating the bulletin boards for her teachers. She loves watching sports: baseball, football, and basketball.

Kimberly Blum - 6th Grade AM/PM
Kimberly Blum is thrilled to work at Ben Franklin Academy as an Instructional Aide. She was a very active founding parent, helping set up the library and in many other areas.
Kimberly spent 10 years in banking and personal finance education before staying home with her children for four years. She received her B.A. in Management and Corporate Communications from Buena Vista University and received her M.B.A. from Indiana Wesleyan University.
Kimberly has a real heart for children that are struggling with learning to read and do math and hopes to use her positions as librarian and math specialist to make a difference in their lives. Kimberly lives in Highlands Ranch with her husband and two daughters who attend BFA.
Jennifer Thompson - 7th Grade AM/8th Grade PM
Jennifer first joined Ben Franklin Academy as a Lunch Aide two years ago after enjoying her time of volunteering in the lunchroom. Last year, she was happy to be the afternoon sixth grade aide. She is thrilled this year to be moving up with the kids and becoming a seventh grade aide. She is excited to continue on with the same kids she got to know last year and to work with the great middle school team.
Married for 13 years to Rod, they have two children who attend BFA (Rodger, 5th ; Ashley, 2nd). In her spare time Jennifer loves to read, write, do puzzles, and swim with the kids.
