Katie is thrilled to spend another year at BFA with some of her favorite people: middle schoolers. Katie began teaching in 2001 after finishing her undergrad in Elementary Education from Missouri State University. She then finished her Master’s in Elementary Education three years later. Katie has been at BFA since day one and spent lots of time teaching third grade. She then moved up to middle school to teach social studies and LOVES teaching sixth graders!
Katie loves life in Colorado with her husband, little boy, and two crazy dogs. Together they love to travel, garden, hike and camp whenever possible.

Originally from New Jersey, she enjoys spending time outdoors in all seasons and is thrilled to now call Colorado home. When she’s not in the classroom, Lisa plays ice hockey, swing dances, and enjoys volunteering and spending time in the mountains hiking and skiing. She is an avid traveler and reader, both of which fuel her passion for learning new things.
This is my first year teaching and I could not be more excited to join the BFA family. I graduated from MSU Denver with a bachelors in history and an emphasis in secondary education. I was on the dance team at Metro for two years; before that I danced all throughout high school. I also was on the gymnastics team, and sometimes still like to show off my back handspring skills.
I have three sisters and one nephew, who is so adorable that I cannot get enough of him. I grew up in Thornton and graduated from Horizon High School. I am the middle child of my sisters. I have two older sisters and one younger. We are very close and my phone is always going crazy with our group messages. I try to go the gym a lot and smile often. I love to laugh and especially enjoy when I can share my humor with my students.Faculty Favorites
