Earlier this week, Brenda Bauer was recognized by the American Heart Association for her dedication, energy and enthusiasm in raising money for kids with ‘special hearts.’ Since BFA opened its doors, Mrs. Bauer has organized five Jump Rope for Heart fundraisers. This year, her passion for raising money for kids like our own Sam Leclaire inspired students to raise $20,633.06 for Jump Rope for Heart – a new record for BFA!
Mrs. Bauer was surprised with a certificate of appreciation and banner announcing that Ben Franklin Academy is in the sixth spot in Colorado for Jump Rope for Heart Fundraisers in 2017-18. Morgan June, youth market director for the American Heart Association, said, “I am so very impressed and grateful for your community’s support of the American Heart/Stroke Association and honored to tell you that Ben Franklin is in the TOP 10 in the state of Colorado for fundraising this year! Brenda invests so much time and passion into making Jump Rope for Heart a meaningful experience for the Ben Franklin community.”
And, I’m sure Mrs. Bauer would like us to mention again that this year Mrs. DePasse’s class had 100 percent participation, and Olivia Veigel was our TOP FUNDRAISER! In addition, Mr. Macias, the middle school team, and student council did an amazing job raising money through their Dodgeball for Dollars tournament. Thank you for your support!
Thanks to all the families who participated in this year’s Jump Rope for Heart event–your generosity will provide support for kids and adults who have ‘special hearts,’ and they will have better knowledge about diagnosis, surgical intervention and treatment thanks to advancing research done by the American Heart Association. And, congratulations again to Mrs. Bauer!
