Thanks for a Wonderful Veterans Day Celebration!

Our Veterans Day assemblies were a wonderful celebration of the service and sacrifice of the veterans in our community. It was an honor to have so many local veterans join us, and we were thrilled to welcome service members from the BFA community. Principal Simpson said she received may hugs and lots of thanks from the veterans as they were leaving today.
The veterans were welcomed by representatives from NJHS and Student Council, treated to songs by our fourth graders, and watched our Boy and Girl Scouts put on a beautiful flag ceremony. We honored veterans in our BFA family through a moving slide show, and by decorating our walls with their pictures and stories.
Special thanks to our guest speakers, U.S. Air Force Officer Joshua Tolin and First Lieutenant Elizabeth Tolin1Lt. Elizabeth Tolin is an Aircraft Maintenance Officer who has served in the Wyoming Air National Guard for 12 years, and Officer Joshua Tolin is active duty in the Judge Advocate General Corps, and joined us via Skype from across the world as he is currently deployed to Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. 1Lt. Elizabeth Tolin was extremely engaging, and explained the differences in each branch of service, the history of Veterans Day, and what its like to be a military family. Officer Joshua Tolin was equally engaging and answered a lot of questions from our students about living and working in a foreign country.

We appreciate all the hard work of our Veterans Day Committee and all our wonderful volunteers who helped decorate, host receptions, create the slide show, prepare the scouts, bake goodies, and prepare for the assemblies. Thanks to the many students who supported our efforts, and to all those who attended the assemblies and were so respectful.

We love celebrating Veterans Day with you, and can’t wait to do it again next year!
