A message from Principal Simpson…

The Governor has ordered all public schools to suspend in-person learning through Friday, April 17.

As you know, we sent materials for two weeks of remote learning home with students before spring break. Following our break, we will be working with teachers to present/distribute materials for the additional two weeks mandated by the Governor. We will try to integrate video and conferencing capabilities for some grade levels, as is appropriate. More specific information will be provided as we get closer to the two-week extension.

You may have seen that Dr. Tucker, DCSD superintendent, sent out an email this evening that said that next Monday, March 23, would be a professional development day for teachers. This does not apply to BFA as our staff did a fantastic job getting us ready for remote learning. Next Monday will be our first remote learning day. Our teachers are ready, and the students have their materials.

This news of an extended closure is not what any of us wanted to hear, though we understand the need for social distancing. We miss seeing the kids and families each day. We will do our best to make this situation as comfortable as possible.

I will send out additional information before we start remote learning next Monday.

Please send me any questions you may have.
