Art Plays a Crucial Role in BFA’s STEAM Curriculum
The focus on the arts, along with science, technology, engineering and math creates a well-rounded student. The visual arts program at BFA encourages student creativity, collaboration, critical thinking and communication. Elementary students engage in a variety of visual arts in a noncompetitive environment, learn art history and are exposed to inspiring works of art. Middle school kids have the opportunity to continue their visual arts education through a number of electives, such as Painting and Drawing, Tech Theater, Jewelry Making, Ceramics and Mixed Media. If you have questions about BFA’s visual arts program, email Mrs. Hinkle, BFA’s art teacher, at ahinkle@bfacademy.org.
At BFA, the music room is a place for everyone. Every student should feel empowered to participate in the music-making process in a safe and nurturing environment. Students will compose, listen, sing, play instruments, understand connections to other disciplines, dance, evaluate music and musical performances, improvise, and arrange. BFA bolts have the confidence to create, play, and sing on their own but also have the compassion to listen and work as an ensemble when making music with others. We are constantly stretching ourselves to understand more and become better musicians and all the while we are having a ton of fun!
As part of BFA’s focus on the arts, each year every grade will participate in a musical performance in front of a live audience. Check the calendar for your students’ musical performance! Select an area to explore.
