Looking for a unique, creative after school activity? Then, Destination Imagination (DI) is for you!

DI is a fun, hands-on system of learning that fosters students’ creativity, courage and curiosity through open-ended academic DI Challenges in the fields of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics), fine arts and service learning.

DI teaches skills students can use in all areas of their lives, such as creative problem solving, teamwork, time management, as well as patience, flexibility, persistence, ethics, respect for others and their ideas, and the collaborative problem solving process. DI teams create solutions to challenges, then present those solutions at one or more tournaments.

Through DI, students use the creative process to turn their ideas into reality and learn invaluable skills through the process including:

  • Creative and critical thinking
  • Team building
  • Problem solving
  • Risk taking
  • Project management
  • Perseverance
  • Self-confidence

Since its inception at BFA in 2012, more than 40 teams have competed at the regional level and 15 teams have competed at the state level; since 2016, BFA has had a total of six teams qualify and represent the school in each succeeding year at DI’s international level of competition – Global Finals. In 2018, THREE teams – the most in the state of Colorado from a single school – represented BFA at Global Finals.
