Preschool Admissions Information

Thank you for your interest in the Ben Franklin Academy preschool program, where Core Knowledge learning for children ages 3 to 5 years is incorporated into a fun, loving and caring environment. Ben Franklin Academy Preschool is a place where your child can grow–physically, mentally, socially, and emotionally!

Preschool Admissions for 2026-2027 School Year

Admissions for the next school year opens in December and January.
Children who will be 3 years old by October 1, 2027 (for Preschool 3’s) and 4 years old by October 1, 2027 (for Pre-K 4’s)
may apply during the admission period.

Priority Admissions:

Current preschool families… Students continuing on from the Preschool 3-year-old program to the Pre-K 4-year-old program will have priority in receiving a seat before students new to BFA.
Children of full-time BFA staff who are currently employed by BFA
Siblings of currently enrolled preschool students
Siblings of currently enrolled BFA K-8 families
All other spaces are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please note: Submitting the admissions form does not guarantee placement. You will receive an email regarding your child’s placement status or waitlist position by end-of-day on the last day of January

Class Options

Preschool 3’s Morning Options:

M/W/F, 8:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
T/TH, 8:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

Pre-K Bumblebees 4’s Full-Day Options:

M/W/F, 8:00 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.
T/TH, 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
We currently DO NOT offer a M-F option.

Pre-K Happy Camper 4’s Afternoon Option:

M-F, 12:15 p.m.– 3:15 p.m.

Admissions Process

Once offered a spot, you will have 24 hours to confirm and secure your child’s place. Please ensure the email addresses listed on the “Intent to Enroll” form are accurate, as this is how placement notifications will be sent.

After accepting a spot, you’ll receive an online enrollment form to complete registration, along with a payment agreement.

Fees:

New preschool families: A non-refundable $150 registration/supply fee (payable by check or cash only) is due when payment agreements are due upon acceptance.
Current preschool students: A non-refundable $125 supply fee will be collected, and payment agreements are due when payment agreements are due upon acceptance.

Students who are not participating in the UPK funding will have monthly tuition payments due by the 15th of each month, from August through May, via MySchoolBucks.

Universal PreK (UPK)

BFA Preschool will be renewing our application for the Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) program for the 2027-28 school year, aiming to offer free or low-cost preschool opportunities for many of our families. Those interested in enrolling their children in BFA Preschool are required to complete an ‘Intent to Enroll’ form available on our website.
Upon submission, if a seat is available in any of our classrooms, we will guide parents through the enrollment process both at BFA and for the UPK application. If seats are not immediately available, your child will be placed on a waitlist. Should a seat become available, we will promptly notify you.

Who is eligible for universal preschool?

Children in Colorado can receive up to 15 hours per week of free, high-quality preschool during the year before kindergarten through the Universal Preschool Program (UPK). Some families may qualify for additional free hours based on specific criteria. However, BFA only offers the 15-hour option.

If your child has an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), their services must be provided through a District School, as BFA preschool does not receive state funding to support specialized services requiring professional staff.

UPK Pre-Registration Dates:

December to February: Pre-registration application window for families requesting Continuity of Care placements, sibling attending, or child of employee.
December to February: Providers will receive matches each day for eligible family registrations and will be able to accept or decline placements.
February: Families must accept pre-registration matches.

Current Preschool Families

Preschool admissions for the 2027-28 school term will open to current BFA Preschool Families first. Priority Registration for Preschool 3’s and younger siblings begins November (via a Google Doc). You will receive an email with a link to the Google Doc.

Current BFA Families

Preschool admissions for the 2027-28 school term will open to current BFA families in December (see the BFA newsletter for information).

General Public

Preschool admissions for the general public will begin in January. More information will be provided at that time.

Please note: Enrollment for the 2024-25 school year is only available for children age 3 by Oct. 1,2024 for our Preschool 3’s class and age 4 by Oct. 1, 2024 for our Pre-K 4’s class.

Current preschool families have first priority enrollment status, and K-8 BFA families have second priority status. All other spots are first come, first served. Submitting this form will not guarantee enrollment. Parents who follow this process will be notified via email regarding class placement or if they have been put on the wait list by end-of-day on January 26.

Below are the tuition rates and class schedule for the 2024-25 school year and are based on 10 payments per year, due the fifteenth of every month, from August to May through our online payment system. Regarding Universal Pre-K (UPK), we want to ensure transparency and a smooth process for student placements for our current BFA families. As of now, we are not committing to applying for UPK for the next school year until we receive clear guidelines from the state regarding student placements. Last year’s experience in ensuring our current students were placed at BFA was challenging, and we want to avoid putting parents and ourselves through a similar situation. We are unsure when UPK will provide that information to schools, once we are given that information we will make a decision that will work best for our current enrolled students.

Important Notes About Enrollment

Once you are offered a position in our preschool program you have 48-hours to secure your child’s spot. If we do not hear back from you, we will need to go to the next child on the wait list. This is why it’s especially important that you list current emails and phone numbers on your “Intent to Enroll” form.
After you have accepted your child’s spot, we’ll send you an online enrollment form that you need to complete to register your child.
A $150 registration/supply fee will be collected from all new preschool families when payment agreement forms are sent out in January. This fee is payable by check or cash (only). Checks should be made out to Ben Franklin Academy Preschool. This registration/supply fee is non-refundable, and will secure a seat for your child for the upcoming school term.
A $125 supply fee will be collected from all current preschool families and families. In addition, they should complete payment agreement forms (which are sent out in January).
