Our annual Middle School Dodgeball 4 Dollars fundraiser will take place on March 13.

Team Information:

  • Team sign-ups close February 27
  • Friday, February 27, is the last day for students to withdraw from teams. Students must see Mrs. Murphy by the end of Advisory in order to complete the withdrawal process.
  • The cost is $10 per person, per team.
  • Students may sign up for up to two teams.
  • Only student team captains may complete the sign-up form using their BFA student email. Parents will not have access to the form.
  • Families will receive their invoice through MySchoolBucks by March 2. Payment must be submitted no later than March 12 at 3:00 p.m. If payment is not received by 3:00 p.m on March 12, a nonrefundable $25 late fee will be automatically added to the account beginning March 13.  This may also prevent your student from participating.

Please review the “Additional Information” tab.  Any Questions can be emailed to Mrs. Murphy or Mr. Macias.

Middle School – Mic-Drop for A Mission Lip Sync Battle – Friday, March 13

(Performances will take place throughout the day between dodgeball games. Students may be on a dodgeball team AND a lip sync team!)

Competition Rules

To ensure fairness and to keep the show moving, every team must adhere to these standards:

  • Time Limit: Performances must be between 2.5 and 3.5 minutes
  • Content Policy: All lyrics, costumes, and dance moves must be “School Appropriate.” No explicit lyrics. Radio edit versions will be considered on an individual basis.
  • Live Sound: No live microphones will be used by students. This is a lip sync—if we hear your actual voice, points will be deducted!
  • Props & Scenery: Props must be handheld or able to be set up/cleared in under 30 seconds. No glitter, confetti, or liquids are allowed!
  • Team Composition: Teams should have at least 5 members, 10 max.
  • Two fake microphone props will be available for use.
  • There is no cost this year. Please note that there will be a per-person entrance fee implemented in future years. 100% of the proceeds will go to charity! Families will be invoiced through MySchoolBucks.

HOW TO JOIN:

  1. Form your squad: Each team should have a minimum of 5 students with a max of 10 students. All team members must be in the same grade. One student needs to act as the team captain. Create a team name.
  2. Pick your song: Aim for 2.5 to 3.5 minutes. Longer songs will be considered, or we will work to fade at 3.5 minutes.
  3. Register: Captains should get the registration form from the Student Council Bulletin Board (outside upstairs restrooms) or White Board (outside Mrs. Hayes’ room).

Forms to sign up were sent to students. Turn forms into Mrs. Hayes by Friday, February 27th.

Pro Tip: Teams should pick a “theme” rather than just standing and singing. 10 students doing a coordinated “Mamma Mia” or “90s Boy Band” routine always scores better than 10 students standing in a line. The goal is entertainment!!!!

As a way to raise money for Backpack Society and to give students a break from the activity in the gym, this year we are offering a craft room where students can pre-buy a ticket and spend some time crafting. We have four craft options to choose from:

    1. 4×6 Picture Frame
    2. Wooden Make-up Brush/Pencil Cup
    3. Canvas zipper pouch for pencils or make-up
    4. Small canvas tote bag

We will have a variety of supplies to decorate the above items – paint, stencils, beads, buttons, embroidery items, etc.

How to craft:

  • Parents may purchase tickets for their student now through March 12 at 3:00 p.m. in My School Bucks.
  • Tickets will cost $10 each (covers the cost of craft and the remainder will go to Backpack Society).
  • Students may purchase up to 2 tickets.
  • 15 students will be allowed in the craft room at a time, so students may have to wait for a student to leave before they may enter, and they MUST have a ticket.

  2. 👕What to Wear: This is NOT a Dress of Choice day. Students may dress in dodgeball costumes or participate in Color Wars or wear a Uniform. More Color Wars information will be coming from Student Council. Please remember that even Dodgeball Team costumes need to follow our Uniform Policies.
  3. ⛔No Visitors this day. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate visitors, including parents or alumni.

Our Student Council is once again celebrating Charity Week, and this year’s charity is Backpack Society.
