Student Drop-Off* and Pickup

BFA is committed to managing traffic and parking in a safe and effective manner for the benefit of its students and the community. Thus, BFA has prepared a Traffic and Parking Management Plan and Procedures. As a helpful resource, you can view the parking map. If you would like to allow someone else to pick up your student, you can designate that person in the app or email traffic@bfacademy.org well in advance to let the office know. Please note, you can designate how individual students are picked up using the dismissal app.

As a matter of school policy, please limit the use of electronic devices of any kind, including Bluetooth or other hands-free devices in the areas designated in BFA’s Traffic and Parking Management Plan and Procedures. Further, to ensure the safety of all, a vehicle may not exceed 10 mph on school property at any time for any reason. Parents should not get out of their cars during carpool; if there is an issue, please let a staff member or volunteer know.

BFA will have two designated loading zones (A and B) for kindergarten through eighth grade student use during pickup at the dismissal of school. BFA also will maintain a separate area designated for pre-kindergarten loading and unloading.

Volunteer for Carpool

To ensure the safety of its students, BFA will have an adequate number of carpool attendants onsite. BFA requests that families volunteer to assist with drop-off and pickup.

Please consider helping in carpool; feel free to show up in the morning or afternoon to volunteer.

Thank you for supporting a safe and efficient student carpool process!

*Late Pick-Ups

Generally, carpool and All Call end by 3:55 p.m. Students who are not registered for BASE and are not picked up by 4:00 p.m. will be charged $5 per student for the first offense and $10 per student for the second offense. Furthermore, students not registered for BASE and not picked up by 4:15 p.m. will be charged an additional $2 per minute, per student beginning at 4:16 p.m.

Parking

We have lots of spots for parking throughout the day.

Please ONLY Park in Designated Spots
Please do not park along the curb in the parking lot or in the fire lane. Parking along the curb in the lot prevents others from backing up safely.

In addition, we kindly ask that you refrain from parking in “Reserved Spots” AT ALL TIMES. Please be respectful of the parents, teachers and administration that paid for or earned those spots with their hard work and refrain from parking in any of the reserved slots.

Walkers

  • We only allow students who live in the immediate area to walk.
  • When a student is identified, a special email is sent to parents on regarding our Procedure and Exceptions.
  • Please email traffic for any questions or concerns.

How to Designate Dismissal in App for BFA

  • How to Designate: When you/your designee arrives to pick up your student(s), it is imperative that you ensure the ‘Zone’ indicated on the app is the lane you’ve pulled into (A or B line) and that you “Announce” your arrival. Please DO NOT announce your arrival when you are on Plaza as that will only slow the carpool process down. Preschool parents who have a K-8 sibling should announce when they are parked in the preschool lot.
  • Carpool Tags: Please display your carpool tag on your dash/rear-view mirror when you arrive to school.  Once your student is loaded in your car, you can take the tag down.  If you are having issues, please keep the carpool tag up as this will be a flag for a staff member to assist you, for example, if your student did not come out for pick-up.
  • PikMyKid Student Number: The PikMyKid system automatically assigns a number–which is what you will see when using the app.  For voting, you will use your youngest or only child’s PikMyKid number for voting purposes.

Overall Simple Tutorial for Parents

Tutorial for After School Sports or Activities for Parents

It is important to change your players designation in PikMyKid for practices and game days.  It reduces confusion for the staff and helps our players get to practices and games on time.

PRACTICES:

If the player will not go through afternoon carline on practice days, please change your student(s)’ PikMyKid designation to After School> Sports

GAME DAYS:

Dismissal for games vary. Please read coaches emails for more information.  If you are picking players up through the normal afternoon dismissal, no need to change.  If you are picking up early or after all call, please follow the directions below.

Home Games:

Athletes will listen for an overhead to be dismissed from class.  Siblings can meet parents at All-Call in the front or may proceed to the Thunder Gym to meet parents.

Away Games:

Process for students (and siblings) being picked up before carpool starts: Please follow the directions below.

If the player will not go through the carline on game days, please change your student(s)’ PikMyKid designation to After School> Sports.   In addition, please email the “Homeroom/Electives” teachers ahead of time, including siblings.

Players (and siblings) will leave through the B Door and meet their parents in the upper parking lot. If you have younger siblings, you can have an older sibling pick them up from their classroom and walk them out.  You can also park in the upper parking lot and walk to the B Doors to wait for them.  Players and siblings do not get dismissed through the front office.

See Map for dismissal.

Home Games:

Please change your student(s)’ PikMyKid designation to After School> Sports.

Players will meet their coach when announced. If you have younger siblings, you will meet them in the front entrance of the school at All Call and walk them to the Athletic Entrances. Please do not come early to pick up students.

It is important to change your student(s) designation in PikMyKid if you wish to take your student(s) after an event during school hours.  This is for ALL your student(s) including the student who is with you while you volunteer or come to watch.

Process for students (and siblings) being picked up before carpool starts: Please follow the directions below.

If ANY of your students will not go through the carline on event days, please change your student(s)’ PikMyKid designation to EVENT RELEASE.   Each event will have its own level for the event.  For example, in October, we have our Halloween Class Parties. You would look for the Halloween Party Event Release. If this is a grade level event, you will see “Name of Event” Event Release.

Students will be called to the Front Lobby at the same time.  You will be notified ahead of time of when they will be in the lobby to meet you.  Gather all your student(s) and look for a staff member to check out.  This needs to be done ahead of time.

No students can be released by going to the Front Office.
