Why Do BFA Students Wear Uniforms?

School uniforms create a level playing field among students and reduce peer pressure and bullying. They also help students to focus on their studies, not their clothes. Uniforms enhance school pride, unity and community spirit and decrease discipline issues. The uniform policy establishes a ‘business-like’ climate in school that indicates BFA students are serious about learning. BFA students make a positive first impression both at school and in the community.

When Do BFA Students Wear Uniforms?

Students must wear their uniform every school day and must be compliant with the uniform standards. The only exceptions are approved Dress of Choice Days, Accelerated Reader Dress of Choice Days, Spirit Days and other special days approved by the principal. The Formal Uniform is tan pants, shorts, skirt or a skort with a navy polo embossed with the BFA logo. Formal Uniforms must be worn on the first day of school, the first Wednesday of every month and on every field trip (unless explicitly told otherwise).

Why Not a Dress Code?

Dress codes leave too much room for interpretation from student-to-student. Uniform policies save valuable teacher and class time because they are easy to understand and enforce.

Purchasing the Correct Uniforms

Please refer to BFA’s policy webpage for the Uniform Policy and the Uniform Standards for all Students; these documents contain important details about BFA’s uniform standards as well as specific styles (with item numbers) that have been approved by the Board. BFA has three approved uniform vendors. Students must wear uniform pieces from these three vendors and can mix and match pieces as long as the item numbers are on the approved list (see Uniform Standards for all Students on the policy webpage). Spirit Wear can be purchased through BFA’s Parent Teacher Organization.
