    Allison Inman

    6th Grade

     
    Allison is delighted to return to Ben Franklin Academy as the sixth grade science teacher. Science is a passion of hers and she loves teaching! After earning her Bachelor of Science from the University of Arizona in Psychology with Biochemistry minor she studied graduate level Pathobiology at the University of Arizona. During these studies she worked in a laboratory on a microbiology research project.  Shortly thereafter she attended Arizona State University and completed an Elementary Education licensing program. 

    In her free time Allison spends time in nature. Her family tries to explore the wilderness regularly and enjoys camping.

            Megan Mares

            6th Grade

             
            Megan is extremely excited to continue her teaching career as the sixth grade language arts teacher at Ben Franklin Academy. She graduated from Western State Colorado University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse education endorsement. Additionally, Megan has acquired a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Grand Canyon University. 
             
            As a Colorado native, Highlands Ranch has always been home to Megan as she has grown up in the Douglas County School District. She loves being able to teach in the community where she was raised and loves being part of the BFA family. 
             
            Family, friends, and sports keep Megan extremely busy! On the weekends she can be found coaching, playing, or watching sports like the Broncos or Rockies. Additionally, watching movies, playing with her puppy, and soaking up the sun are all ideal ways to spend free time. 
             

                Katie Stolk

                Katie will have big milestones this year: twenty years of teaching, and ten of them here at BFA!  She began teaching in 2001 after finishing her undergrad in education at Missouri State University.  She then finished her Master’s in Elem. Education three years later.  After teaching 15 years in elementary, Katie moved to middle school and hasn’t regretted a day since.  She loves middle schoolers and teaching social studies at BFA.  Outside of school, Katie loves spending time with her family, being outside, and getting together with friends.

                        Kevin is excited to begin his ninth year of teaching.  Kevin has been at BFA from the beginning and spent the first eight years in third and fifth grades. He joined BFA as a second career teacher, having spent the previous years in business.  He looks forward to providing the education, leadership, and guidance to assist with each student’s present and future success. Kevin also coaches the girls and boys basketball teams.

                        Kevin graduated high school at Regis Jesuit.  After high school, Kevin graduated from Colorado State University and later earned his master’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Phoenix.

                        A Colorado native, Kevin lives with his wonderful wife, Sarah, and daughters, Chloe (age 10), Carly (age 9), and Charlotte (5) in Parker.  Kevin looks forward to another great year at Ben Franklin Academy.

                            Nicole Poleschook

                            7th Grade

                            Nicole is excited to return to Ben Franklin Academy for her seventh year. She spent three years as a 3rd grade teacher and is entering her fourth year as a 7th grade language arts teacher.  She has a passion for learning and knowledge and a deep affection for all things literary.

                            Nicole has her Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Education with an added endorsement in Language Arts. As a lifelong learner, she is currently pursuing her second Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and has aspirations of earning her doctorate some day. Nicole’s favorite part of teaching is making connections with her students and helping them grow to become happy and productive members of society. She loves middle schoolers, their sense of humor, and she loves being able to watch the way they transform from kids to young adults in their three years at BFA.

                            When not teaching or coaching soccer at BFA, Nicole spends her free time with her two daughters, Mina (8th grade) and Natalia (6th grade). Together they hike, kayak, camp, cook, host game nights, and occasionally binge watch Netflix.

                                Christine Svensen

                                7th Grade

                                Christine is excited for another great year at Ben Franklin Academy as the seventh-grade science teacher. Christine has taught middle school for 18 years. She received both a BA in Psychology and her Teaching License from CU Boulder and her MA in Education Administration & Supervision from the University of Phoenix.

                                Christine has lived in Colorado her entire life. She enjoys staying active around Highlands Ranch as well as traveling to new sites with her two daughters, who are a Freshman and Junior in High School. She appreciates all that Colorado has to offer, including the parks and recreation, the mountains with skiing and boarding during the winter months, and paddleboarding at the lakes during the summer months. However, Christine dedicates most of her time outside of school to her girls’ sports.

                                Christine is grateful to be part of the BFA community. She looks forward to meeting all of her students and helping them maintain a love for education.

                                    Marty Denham

                                    Marty is excited to return to Ben Franklin Academy to teach this year’s group of 8th grade students.  This will be her fourth year at BFA.  Her teaching experience includes 12 years at Cherry Creek Academy (also a Core Knowledge charter school) teaching 7th and 8th grade science, and three years teaching high school science in Byers, Colorado.  Marty received her Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Science Education, from the University of Wyoming. 
 She has been married 29 years to husband Dave.  Their son, Jack will be a junior at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana, studying film production.   They have a number of pets, including three dogs, a cat, a bird, and many fish.   When away from school, Marty enjoys golfing, traveling, crafting, and spending time with family and friends.

                                    She is looking forward to meeting a new group of students and engaging them in lots of hands on physics activities!

                                        Lisa Dychus

                                        Lisa is excited to return for her eighth year at Ben Franklin Academy as the 8th grade math teacher.  She earned her BA in Mathematics from Lehigh University and completed her MA in Teaching at Westminster College in Salt Lake City.  As a teacher, Lisa aims to inspire her students to become critical thinkers and creative problem solvers.  She incorporates real-world applications of concepts to help students appreciate the mathematics all around them.  Prior to teaching, she put her problem solving skills to the test as a civilian operations research analyst for the US Navy.

                                        Originally from New Jersey, she enjoys spending time outdoors in all seasons and is thrilled to now call Colorado home.  When she’s not in the classroom, Lisa plays ice hockey, swing dances, and enjoys volunteering and spending time in the mountains hiking and skiing.  She is an avid traveler and reader, both of which fuel her passion for learning new things.

                                            Genevieve Gibson

                                            8th Grade

                                            Genevieve is excited to teach 8th grade for the second year in a row, which will be her eighth year of teaching. In addition to teaching seventh grade for five years, Genevieve has worked for Ben Franklin Academy as a second grade Instructional Aide (IA), a fifth grade IA/small group math teacher, and a sixth grade Social Studies teacher. A Colorado native, Genevieve attended the University of Colorado and holds a B.A. in International Affairs and an M.A. in Political Science. Before her second child was born, Genevieve worked primarily in the mutual fund industry and has used that background in the past to teach the middle school’s stock market elective.

                                            In her search for a school that was a great fit for her family, Genevieve came across BFA and is proud to be included in BFA’s founding family and the entire BFA community. In her spare time, she and her husband love to spend time with their 14 year old son, Evan, and twelve year old daughter, Bryn. She also loves to run, read about history and politics, and travel. Genevieve loves to teach the Core Knowledge social studies curriculum and is very grateful for the opportunity to work at Ben Franklin Academy!

                                                I grew up in Littleton and attended Columbine High School. I received my BA in English/secondary education from the University of Northern Colorado and have taught at the high school level for several years before coming to BFA. I am married and have four children. I love to read, write, hike, travel, try new things, and spend time with my family.
