Ben Franklin Academy has proudly maintained an NJHS chapter since opening in the 2011–2012 school year. Through chapter service activities, BFA members continue to uphold and extend the very qualities that led to their selection. At BFA, as in NJHS nationwide, membership is not only an honor but also a meaningful commitment. In addition, NJHS at BFA incorporates the 13 virtues of Ben Franklin into its service work, ensuring that students connect their leadership and service with the school’s mission and vision.

What is National Junior Honor Society

When the National Junior Honor Society was founded in 1929, its purpose was to recognize and encourage academic achievement while also promoting the qualities essential to good citizenship in a democracy. The ideals of scholarship, character, service, citizenship, and leadership remain just as relevant today as they were at the organization’s beginning.

More than 90 years later, the National Junior Honor Society is recognized as one of the most prestigious student organizations, respected by administrators, faculty, students, parents, and the wider school community. Its reputation for excellence has grown through decades of dedication by members and advisors alike.
