Thank you to everyone who participated in the CEC’s Veterans Day Parade this morning! We sincerely appreciate those of you who decorated your cars and we were so grateful for the enthusiastic reception you gave our veterans and active duty service members! More than 20 veterans and service members were honored at the parade. They were greeted by the CEC with thank you notes, breakfast burritos from Mi Cocina at Broadway and County Line (thanks to John for giving us a discount and coming in early!), and coffee from Starbucks (870 Cpl Max Donahue Ln). Kelly Enders from Starbucks not only donated the coffee, but she also brought four of her staff members to help serve. Our favorite bagpiper, Andy Machaud, did an amazing job–his beautiful music created a really special atmosphere for the veterans. Andy was one of the first volunteers to arrive and the last to leave.
The CEC was thrilled to have the support of Ben’s Brigade, and a large contingent of volunteers who helped decorate both inside and outside the school. Special thanks to Jackie Wuchter who organized the Daisy’s/Scouts and made the life-size thank you notes for our school entrance, and Julie Roper who created the video again this year.
The CEC also wants to recognize Monte Brook and the BFA staff for their work behind the scenes, including Mrs. Hinkle who ensured our veterans received poppies again this year.
Don’t forget…the CEC is collecting donations for the Veterans Hospital for one more day. The VA is in dire need of single fleece blankets, hand/foot warmers, gloves/mittens and socks. (Please, do not send in hats this year.) Donation boxes are located at each entrance so students can easily drop items on their way into school each morning. Thank you in advance for assisting veterans in our community who are in need of extra support.
