Open Enrollment (OE) for the 2026-2027 school year began on Monday, November 3. BFA uses OE for K-8th admissions. Priority status is assigned only during the First Round. Please review the following information carefully to confirm whether you must complete Open Enrollment for your child(ren).

βœ… When Open Enrollment (First Round) Is Required

To be eligible for a BFA priority admissions offer for the 2026-2027 school year, you must complete Open Enrollment during the First Round (November 3 – December 1) if your student is an:

  • Incoming Kindergartener.
  • Incoming 1st–8th Grader NOT Currently Enrolled at BFA.

🚫 When Open Enrollment Is Not Required

  • Current BFA K–7th Grade Students: Your student will be automatically enrolled at BFA for the 2026-2027 school year. No action is required.
  • Current BFA 8th Graders (Graduating): You only need to complete OE if your student plans to attend a DCSD high school that is NOT their address-assigned school.

🏠 Returning to Your Address-Assigned School?

If you plan for your child to return to your address assigned (neighborhood) school for the 2026-2027 school year, please follow these steps:

  1. Request the Form by Dec. 12: Email Colleen Bobbin, BFA’s Director of Admissions/Registrar, by December 12 to request the required paperwork. This allows time to respond before Winter Break begins.
  2. Submit Form by Deadline: The final deadline to submit the completed form is early January.

Important: Families who miss the January submission deadline must complete Open Enrollment, and placement at their address assigned school is not guaranteed.

DO NOT CREATE A NEW ACCOUNT FROM THE OPEN ENROLLMENT PAGE.
If you create a new account, your child will not receive priority status. You must use your existing, activated Parent Portal Account.


Accessing the EngagED Portal to Complete OE:

If you have an activated Parent Portal Account, log into the EngagED Portal with the email and password:

 

Email: Your IC Parent Portal username + @p.dcsdk12.org

If your username is Superparent, your email is Superparent@p.dcsdk12.org

Password: Your IC Parent Portal password

If you do not have an activated Parent Portal Account: Email Colleen Bobbin for your unique activation code and instructions.



Important Recommendation: We strongly recommend completing Open Enrollment before November 17. Technical issues often require escalation to district IT, and waiting may prevent you from completing OE by the time the First Round closes on Dec. 1. Again, your child will not receive priority status if you miss the First Round.

  • Confirmation: After completing OE, you will receive an email confirmation with your selections. This is your only confirmation; the BFA Registrar cannot view applications until after the First Round closes.
