Our fall dance will be full of excitement.  Leave those cell phones at home as this is a “No Phone” zone.  Students who bring their phones will check them in at the Check In station.

  • Students attending the dance may not arrive earlier than 6:45 p.m. and must be picked up no later than 9:10 p.m.
  • Once students enter the dance, they are not permitted to leave unless the parent has communicated this to Mrs. Hayes before the start of the dance. A list of students allowed to be picked up early will be at the ticket table.

The following rules govern dances:

  1. Students must check in their cell phones* when they get to the dance. No cell phones are permitted at the dance. There will be a check in station for phones that an adult will watch.
  2. No students from other schools are permitted.
  3. School rules that apply during the day are in effect.
  4. The dress code will be enforced.
  5. Faculty members, as well as parent volunteers, will act as chaperones.
  6. Areas other than the Lightning and Thunder Gym, restrooms, and hallways from the main doors to the Thunder Gym are off-limits.
  7. Students are not permitted in lockers, the second floor, or in any first-floor classrooms.
  8. No outside food or drink is allowed at the dance. All food and drinks must be disposed of before entering the school.
  9. Students not following the dance guidelines or school rules will not be permitted to stay at the dance, and parents will be called to pick up their child early.

Dances at BFA are not formal events. While some students enjoy dressing up for the event, it is not required. Below are the guidelines for dance attire.

Dresses/Skirts/Shorts:

  • Length must be no more than 4 inches above the knee.
  • Slits in skirts must be no higher than 4 inches above the knee.
  • Dresses should have a modest neckline and not fall below or show undergarments. The back of the dress must not dip below mid back or show undergarments.
  • No exposed midriff even when hands are raised, and no cut outs on torso area (back, sides, stomach).
  • No strapless dresses. Straps of any width are acceptable and there must be a strap on both shoulders.
  • No dresses are permitted that are open or sheer on the front or sides of the dress, unless the area has solid material underneath.

Other guidelines:

  • Clothes shall be modest, in good condition, neat in appearance, and meet appropriate length requirements as stated above.
  • Students are not allowed to wear pajama items or clothing that contains wording or images that could be interpreted as racial, vulgar, disruptive or offensive in any way.
  • No hats or sunglasses will be permitted.

Costumes worn for themed dances must follow all above stated guidelines and:

  • Faces must be visible at all times
  • No costumes that impede movement, making it difficult for the wearer to walk or would be a tripping hazard for others.
  • No handheld props

Suggestions:

  • Be aware of material that gathers and rises when you walk or dance. Clothing should be comfortable and able to stay in place during movement.
  • Think carefully about shoes – many girls opt for cute tennis shoes as opposed to heels so they are more comfortable walking and dancing!

Admin and BFA staff will be checking your outfit before you enter the dance. If you do not follow the above guidelines, parents will be called to pick you up. While the adults do not enjoy having to do this, we are committed to enforcing these guidelines to ensure we are consistent in our expectations for all students.

  1. A student may be dropped off no earlier than 15 minutes before the dance begins. Once they enter the building, they will need to check in at the ticket table and turn in their phone before they enter the dance.
  2. All students will be asked to go to the Thunder Gym ten minutes before the dance ends. After the last song, all students will be excused from the Thunder Gym and exit out the main doors of the building for pick up.
  3. Students are only allowed to enter or exit the dance through the main doors of BFA.
  4. All students need to be picked up no later than 8:10 unless they are a student council member or child of a parent volunteering.
  • If a child needs to contact a parent, they may check out their phone to call or text and return their phone after contacting their parent.
  • All students will have access to photo opportunities at the dance. There will be several photo booths and parent volunteers taking photos.
