Sharon Furnier has lived in Colorado since 2004.  She moved here from California where she taught preschool for 5 years.  She continued to teach preschool in Colorado for 2 years before moving to the elementary level as an instructional aide. In 2011 she joined Ben Franklin Academy’s 4th grade team. After completing the requirements to continue to teach preschool, she is ready to get down to preschool business again, which she has truly missed.  She is very excited about getting to know all the families and celebrating their children.

Mrs. Furnier and her husband, Rick, have 2 kids (young adults). Her daughter is an archivist and lives in Los Angeles and her son is a medic in the Army, currently stationed at Ft. Hood in Texas. In her free time she likes to read, ride bikes, do puzzles, walk, and watch way too many sports.

Erin Frederiksen

Erin is excited to be teaching preschool at BFA.  A Colorado native, she graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Psychology.  Erin taught second grade at a Core Knowledge charter school for four years, and has been teaching preschool since 2010.  Erin is currently working towards earning a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She enjoys going to graduate school while teaching because it provides her an opportunity to bring new ideas into the classroom and show her love of learning.

Erin enjoys spending time at home in Castle Rock with her husband, son, and their two dogs. She also enjoys being outdoors, traveling, music, and reading.  She looks forward to another wonderful year at BFA.

Leigh Savoy

Leigh is honored to be part of the Ben Franklin Academy Preschool team.  She loves working with young children because of their openness and willingness to learn.  After operating a licensed home daycare for several years, Leigh went back to school last year to earn her Early Childhood Education Teaching Certificate.  Prior to receiving the opportunity to join the BFA Team, Leigh was a member of the Pre K program at Our Father Learning Center.

Leigh and her husband Frank have been married for 23 years and have lived many places thanks to the Military.  They have three wonderful children ages 20, 15 and 9 and have lived in Highlands Ranch for the past 8 years.  Their youngest attends BFA!  They have a wiener dog named Togger and foster another.

In her free time, Leigh likes to go camping, ride her dune buggy, play tennis and spending time outdoors.  When time permits she loves a good book.  Leigh is excited to begin the school year and make a positive impact in our children’s lives.
