Preschool

Janet Spurgeon

Janet joins BFA as one of the preschool instructors in the morning sessions. She grew up in Connecticut and attended Wheelock College in Boston, earning a bachelor of science in Early Childhood Education.  Since then, Janet has taught in private preschools on the east coast as well as in Colorado.  She also has experience teaching kindergarten and third grade in public schools.

Janet and her husband have been married for 22 years.  They have three wonderful teenagers and a very sweet (and spoiled) Scottish terrier.  Janet loves to be busy and fills her time visiting museums, collecting art, listening to classical music, and teaching Sunday school.  Janet also enjoys road trips with her family.  Janet cannot wait to meet all of her wonderful new students!

Shannon Olson

Shannon is a Colorado Native and graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in Elementary Education.  She has experience teaching first and fifth grades and ran an in-home daycare for three years while she raised her two children.  For the last four years, Shannon taught at a preschool her youngest attended.

Shannon and her husband, a high school teacher and coach, have been married 14 years and have two wonderful kids, ages 10 and 7.  They love family time, going to the mountains, and playing and watching sports.  Shannon is so excited to be a part of BFA and the preschool program.  She looks forward to meeting everyone and helping build a foundation for BFA students.

Erin Frederiksen

Erin is thrilled to be teaching preschool at BFA.  She graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Psychology.  Since 2010, Erin has been teaching preschool and previously taught second grade at a Core Knowledge charter school.  Erin is currently working towards earning a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She enjoys going to graduate school while teaching because it provides her an opportunity to bring new ideas into the classroom and show her love of learning.

Erin enjoys spending time at home in Castle Rock with her husband and their two dogs, being outdoors, traveling, and reading.  She looks forward to an exciting year at BFA.
