Having been a part of Ben Franklin Academy since the first year, Janet has worn several hats for the school. Until this year, Janet has been an Instructional Aide for the 5th grade and the Middle School teams. This year, Janet has been given the opportunity to teach Life Skills to the Middle School grade levels. This is Janet’s 6th year working with the upper grades, as she loves working with the young adults of the age group. During the summers, Janet is also the Co-Director of the successful BFA Summer Camp program and during the school year is an active teacher for the BASE program. Janet enjoys the constant connection with a large number of students, and you can find her with several students around her as the students communicate their days. She has many names given to her by her students, and has learned the many handshakes she and her students have created.
Janet has earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Phoenix and enjoys implementing the knowledge gained throughout her studies into the classroom. Janet is a single mom, of two. Her daughter works full-time and is out of the house, and her son is a Lance Corporal with the United States Marine Corps. As an empty-nester, Janet enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and her new addition, Harper, the cat. Janet has lived in Colorado since 2006, after many years in Texas. A Wyoming native, she follows both the University of Texas and University of Wyoming athletics. She enjoys drawing, painting, and reading. Check out the many bulletin boards and BFA, as one of Janet’s favorite activities is creating the bulletin boards for the teachers. She loves watching sports: baseball (the Colorado Rockies being her favorite), football, and basketball. Janet is thrilled to have taken on a new role of teacher in the mornings as well as continuing her role of aide in the afternoons.Faculty Favorites
