Lightning Bolt BASE Program

BFA’s Lightning Bolt Before/After School Enrichment (BASE) program serves BFA children and parents by providing a safe, enriching, convenient, and affordable school-age childcare program. Our on-site program features indoor and outdoor activities that keep your child engaged and safe while giving them plenty of time to work on their homework. A perfect fit for working parents or parents who need additional time before or after school, BFA’s Lightning Bolt BASE program provides safe alternative for school-aged childcare.

While BASE is a drop-in program, your child(ren) must be registered in advance to use the program every school year. If you think that you may need BASE services at any time during the school year, please register now. For the link to register please email BASE at and we will send you the link.

The Lightning Bolt BASE program is staffed by BFA employees who have all been screened and undergone strict background checks through the State of Colorado. In addition, our program utilizes scanning technology for child check-in/check-out procedures to guarantee a safe and secure environment.

All BASE participants (both new and returning students) MUST complete an Enrollment Form in order to participate in the program. The Enrollment Form and payment (please see below for payment and cost details) must be completed prior to first day of attendance.

Priced at only $7 per session, the BFA Lightning Bolt BASE program is more affordable than most childcare options in the marketplace. In addition, we offer a multiple child discount to families with more than one child. Each additional child will be charged just $4.50 per session.  There is a $25.00 registration fee per family that will be assessed once per year to cover general administrative costs.

Tuition Schedule

  • Registration Fee: $25.00 per family/per year
  • Before-School Care (Hours: 6:45 a.m. – 7:45 a.m.): $7.00 first child/$4.50 each additional child
  • After-School Care 1 (Hours: 3:50 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.): $7.00 first child/$4.50 each additional child
  • After-School Care 2 (Hours: 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.): $7.00 first child/$4.50 each additional child
  • Late Pick-Up (After 6:01 p.m.): $2.00 per minute, per child


The Before/After School Enrichment (BASE) program has moved to a new childcare system called Early Learning Ventures (ELV) for account maintenance and payments. It is replacing the ProCare program that we used in previous years. Now all of the registration process is online, no paperwork is involved. We’ve found this offers efficiencies for parents and administration alike.

Lightning Bolt Summer Camp

It may be hard to believe, but it’s time to start thinking about summer camp! Ben Franklin Academy will offer another exciting Summer Camp program this year. Do you need full-time day care for the summer? Or perhaps you are just looking to get a break a few days per week. Maybe your kids would like to connect with other Ben Franklin Academy kids and enjoy fun activities and social time. Whatever your situation, our Summer Camp program is sure to keep your kids safe and entertained. And, the best part is that our Summer Camp is staffed by people you know and trust!

Program Details
Dates: June 1 – Aug. 12; camp will be closed July 4-8
Hours: 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Days: Monday through Friday
Summer Camp is open to any currently enrolled BFA student age 5 and older. Your child must be 5 on or before Wednesday, June 1, to participate. The activities calendar is complete. Please email if you would like to see the list of activities.
One-time Registration Fee: $25 per child; All registered campers will receive a camp t-shirt and daypack.

In February, the BASE program was awarded a grant from the state of Colorado. With the funds we received, we lowered the registration fee to $25 per student. In addition, we’ve lowered the weekly fee to $200, and will not be charging more for the field trips and other special activities we are planning for this summer.
